Director of Facilities and Support Services - The Polyclinic
Randal Brand has for the past 9 years been the Director of Facilities and Support Services for The Polyclinic, Seattle, WA, an independently owned physician multi-specialty medical group. With over 240 physicians and providers in 500,000 square foot of space in 12 locations. His responsibilities include oversight of all facility operations, environmental services, maintenance, engineering, security, parking, central switchboard, all leasing activities, new and remodel construction, and support services for 12 clinic locations, along with new facility strategic planning, design, development and construction management. He currently manages a staff of 45 employees with an annual operating and capital budget of more than $50+ million.
One of Brand’s major milestones included project management for the aggressive 18-month development of The Polyclinic’s flagship location at Madison Center. The $55 million project included medical tenant improvements for the 205,000-square-foot facility and construction of a separate 400-stall parking structure. In 2016, Brand designed and developed a leading-edge approach to medical tenant improvements at The Polyclinic Northgate Plaza. Using modular, interchangeable wall panels and a vacuum plumbing system allows for streamlined office and plumbing reconfigurations in the future and significantly reduced construction costs. In 2016, Brand jointly managed the successful acquisition, leasing, design and construction of a joint-venture ambulatory surgery center with 37,000-sqare-feet and 12 operating rooms. He has replaced or substantially updated over 85% of The Polyclinic facilities over his stay with the firm.
Mr. Brand has spent over 35 years within Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, General Contractors, Real Estate Development, and for over 15 years as owner / president / general manager of a medical office building real estate development, project management and financing firm. He has developed, designed, and directly space planned over 2,500,000 square foot of ambulatory medical space with a valuable and significant understanding of the business of ambulatory medicine.
Mr. Brand holds degrees of Bachelors of Architecture and Bachelors of Construction Management from the University of Nebraska, Master of Business Administration from Seattle University, and an Architectural Registration in the State of Washington, and has over 3,500 hours of lecture time within the classroom of various bachelor degree programs in Construction Management and Project Management.
