Senior Vice President - National Facilities Design and Construction
Terry Wood is senior vice president of National Facilities Design and Construction (FDC) at Kaiser Permanente, a leading US health care provider and not-for-profit health plan, serving more than 12.6 M members with an annual operating revenue of $95.5 B. Founded in 1945, Kaiser Permanente pioneered the integrated delivery model, which, through a partnership between the health plan, hospitals, and Permanente Medical Groups, delivers high quality, coordinated care. This coordinated care delivery model focuses on prevention and affordable health care using evidence-based medicine and industry-leading technology.
Terry is accountable for an $8 B capital program that plans, designs, and builds new hospitals and medical offices and maintains the mission readiness of Kaiser Permanente’s 90 million-square-foot real estate portfolio including more than 1,100 facilities. Current annual spend is $2.5 B with $8 B total work-in-flight.
Terry oversees Kaiser Permanente’s pathbreaking renewable energy and decarbonization efforts. These focus on reducing energy intensity and pursuing green power opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. He has committed to spending millions of dollars each year with construction suppliers owned by minorities, women, and veterans to support Kaiser Permanente’s continued commitment to diversity.
FDC is comprised of approximately 1,900 people, providing products and services to support the complete facilities management life cycle. FDC supports business strategies with facilities planning and design, construction management, major project delivery, and strong renewable energy practices.
Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2015, Terry was the Vice President, Global Real Estate, responsible for Hewlett Packard’s global real estate portfolio. He previously served as Vice President, Global Real Estate for JDSU Corp. He spent 19 years in the Canadian Military Engineers, serving throughout Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.
Terry graduated with an Engineering degree from The Royal Military College of Canada and maintains his Professional Engineering status. He is a past president of the Northern California Chapter of CoreNet Global and a past Officer on the CoreNet Global Board of Directors. He is a member of the Client Advisory Boards of JLL and Revista and a former board member of the Lake Merritt /Uptown District Association.
