Revista recently held its 2nd quarter subscriber webinar. One of the trends we highlighted was total square feet of MOB space per ambulatory employee. We took the total US square footage inventory, which has grown from 1.47 billion SF in 1Q19 to 1.62B SF in 2Q26. That’s growth of about 10.6% during that period. We then examined the number of ambulatory services employees each quarter. This data can be retrieved from the St. Louis Federal Reserve and the source is U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, All Employees, Ambulatory Health Care Services [CES6562100001], retrieved from FRED, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. So while the underlying MOB stock has grown by 10.6% for the above period, the number of employees in ambulatory services has grown by 21.2%. This has resulted in a squeeze when measuring the SF/Employee. That has fallen from 193 SF/employee in 1Q19 to 176 SF/Employee in 2Q26. This supports higher occupancies and tight markets which RevistaMed has reported on.
