medical office volume. Thus far, in the 3rd quarter of 2015, hospital RE transaction volume is running at $2.2 Billion. This is up considerably from a year ago when hospital volume was $0.9B. The Ventas/Ardent Health Services transaction ($1.4B for real estate) and Medical Properties Trust/Capella Healthcare ($600M for real estate) account for the majority of the $2.2B. Overall, transaction volume is running above $3B quarter to date which makes it the second highest quarterly volume behind 4Q14’s volume of $4.3B.
